More Than a Race, A Community ~
“More than just a race. A tradition, a community, a legacy.” - Amy Rusiecki
When it comes to endurance racing, Vermont 100 isn’t just a milestone — it’s a legacy. One of the oldest 100-mile races in the country, it’s become as much about community and tradition as it is about covering the miles. We sat down with Race Director Amy to talk about what makes the Vermont 100 special, the people behind it, and how Soundscape Merchandise is proud to play a small part in bringing their vision to life.
The Heart of Vermont 100
“It’s more than a race — it’s a community.” Those are the words Amy used to describe the Vermont 100. The race draws runners, riders, and volunteers back year after year — not just for the challenge, but for the connections.
Volunteers, in particular, are what make this race possible. From aid stations to logistics, their dedication is unmatched. “Our volunteers are the heart of Vermont 100. Without them, this event wouldn’t exist,” Amy says.
“We’ve seen participants come back year after year, and it’s incredible to watch the friendships and traditions grow.” - Amy Rusiecki
Expanding the Trail: Beast Coast & Seven Sisters
Amy’s work doesn’t stop at Vermont 100. Through her leadership of the Beast Coast Trail Running Series, she creates opportunities for runners of all levels to connect with nature, challenge themselves, and explore the beauty of Western Massachusetts. Each Beast Coast race is carefully designed to highlight local trails while supporting community organizations and land trusts, including the Kestrel Land Trust, Franklin Land Trust, and the Friends of the Mount Holyoke Range. From beginner-friendly distances to ultra-marathon challenges, the series offers something for everyone — while giving back to the local community.
The Seven Sisters Trail Race, another flagship event under Amy’s guidance, is a true test of endurance and strategy. Recognized for its challenging terrain and scenic vistas, it draws runners from across the country. Amy ensures that every participant feels supported and included, whether it’s through pre-race webinars, on-course volunteers, or adaptive categories for athletes of all abilities. This year’s women’s podium showcased not just athletic excellence but also the sense of community that defines these races — with all three winners proudly sporting Soundscape merch, a testament to the strong partnerships that help make these events possible.

The Role of Merch
Merch may seem like a small detail, but for Vermont 100, it’s a way to keep the spirit alive long after race day. This year, Soundscape partnered with Amy and her team to create apparel and gear that represent the race’s identity.
“Partnering with Soundscape has been seamless — the merch always feels like it represents who we are,” Amy shares. From tees to hats, runners proudly wear them as badges of accomplishment, reminders of both the challenge and the community.
Looking Ahead
The Vermont 100 isn’t just about endurance on the course — it’s about sustaining a tradition that continues to inspire. Each year, Amy and her team find new ways to honor the race’s history while growing its future.
